Free Preview

Tenants and landlords must be aware of that Federal, State and Local Government laws apply to residential rentals. Please go to the course called “LAWS: Laws and Rules for Residential Rental Property”  in this training system which describes the framework of Federal Laws, State Laws and some Local Government laws.

Federal, State, County and City laws govern Residential Rental housing across the USA. The location of the property determines which laws are applicable to the rental property. Landlords should clearly understand the obligations of each layer of the laws and operate the rental property according to those laws.

Please review the Federal Laws and then the State Laws that apply to your situation.

These lessons are for general training purposes only. Landlord-tenant laws are always changing, and may even vary from county to county. You have a responsibility to perform your own research and cautiously apply the laws to your unique situation.  If you have a legal question or concern, you should contact a licensed attorney referral service that is operated by the state bar association. This article is not intended to be exhaustive or a substitute for qualified legal advice.
